Patrick M. Rogan
After more two decades of successfully representing thousands of clients
in northeastern Pennsylvania, we’ve learned that, most of all, clients
want discretion and experienced guidance from their lawyer.
They rightfully expect honesty, regular communication and convenient access.
They expect good and effective service. And they expect their attorney
to stand strong for them.
Clients rightfully want a lawyer with patience, with a record of success
and with a good reputation. And they want their lawyer’s very best effort.
But, most of all, clients want discretion and experienced guidance with
a difficult and unfamiliar situation.
At Rogan Law we are proud of meeting and exceeding our clients’ needs
for over 25 years. We are proud of getting the best possible result for
thousands of clients. We are proud of our record of success in the courts
of northeastern Pennsylvania - state courts and federal courts.
And we are proud, most of all, of keeping our clients’ names and
photos out of the news.
Attorney Patrick M. Rogan earned his bachelor’s degree from the University
of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania and his law degree from the University
of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida. He has participated in
continuing legal education in Toronto, Seattle, Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia
and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
He has been admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court,
the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania
and the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
He was born and raised in the Scranton area and lives in Clarks Summit,
Pennsylvania with his wife, attorney Julia K. Munley, a trial lawyer and
the daughter of United States District Court Senior Judge James M. Munley.
Attorney Rogan has a long history of service and leadership. He received
the March of Dimes Service Award, the Operation Overcome Appreciation
Award, the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America Outstanding Service to
Children Award, and the Parents’ Magazine Service to Community Award.
He served as chair of a section of the American Association for Justice
(AAJ), formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA). AAJ
is the world’s largest trial bar with more than 56,000 members worldwide.
It provides trial lawyers with information and professional assistance
to serve clients successfully and to protect the values inherent in the
civil and criminal justice system.
Over a thousand of the best trial lawyers nationwide attended the AAJ convention
in Seattle when attorney Rogan was elected chair of the section; several
hundred of the lawyers attended the section meeting and selected him unanimously
for the distinguished chair position. Those in attendance included the
attorney who successfully defended singer Michael Jackson at trial.
Attorney Patrick M. Rogan maintains impeccable ethical standards.
For over a century, the legal profession has relied upon the Martindale-Hubbell
law directory for authoritative information on the legal profession worldwide.
Referencing Martindale’s peer-review ratings helps a person select
an experienced attorney with superior ethics. The third-party validation
provides added confidence that a person has selected the right lawyer.
Attorney Rogan ranks high by such measures. His rating reveals his consistent
adherence to professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability and
diligence. His Martindale status makes a definitive statement about his
superior ability and unquestionable integrity.
Rogan Law built a new office a few years ago at a convenient location with
ample free parking in order to better serve clients. Our new office is
located on Business Route 6 near Interstate Route 81, directly across
from the Viewmont Mall near Scranton.
From our new office we serve clients in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Stroudsburg,
Tunkhannock, Towanda, Honesdale, Montrose, Milford and Jim Thorpe. We
serve clients in Lackawanna County, Luzerne County, Monroe County, Wyoming
County, Bradford County, Wayne County, Susquehanna County, Pike County
and Carbon County.
At Rogan Law attorney fees are structured differently for different types of cases.
In cases involving a car accident or truck accident, or a medical injury,
or in any other personal injury case; clients do not pay any fee or cost.
Attorney fees and costs in such cases are paid from the successful settlement
or verdict. This fee arrangement is called a contingent fee; it depends
upon a successful outcome. The attorney fees and costs typically come
from an insurance carrier. And if there is no recovery then the client
doesn’t pay anything.
In criminal cases, clients pay a flat fee. We do not charge hourly in criminal
cases because most people could not afford to pay for all the time necessary
to achieve the best possible result. While it may not be easy to hire
a criminal defense attorney, because no one plans on having criminal charges,
a flat fee generally would be much lower than an hourly rate. And, very
important, clients should want their entire payment used for their defense.
At Rogan Law we do not pay referral fees to other law firms for criminal
cases. We do not pay half of, or any other part of, a client’s money
to another lawyer or law firm simply for sending us a client. Every penny
paid to us goes to the defense of our client. So, when one lawyer sends
you to another lawyer be aware that half of or some of the money you pay
may not be going toward your defense. It may be going to the referring attorney.
In estate cases, clients are not personally responsible for any fees or
costs. All fees and costs are paid from before-tax assets of the estate,
meaning the attorney fees and costs reduce the inheritance tax.
At Rogan Law we make every possible effort to keep our clients’ names
and photos out of the news. The various news media are aggressive in reporting
on accident and criminal cases. Just turn on the television news or open
the newspaper; most stories in the first few minutes or on first few pages
are about accident and criminal cases. Some lawyers use such exposure
as part of their marketing efforts. We do not and will not.
At Rogan Law we stand strong for our clients at all times. We put our experience
and reputation to work each and every day. We guide our clients with care
through a difficult process at a critical time in their lives, with discretion.
And we achieve the best possible results.
